Strategic Market Research Manager – Regional – Beijing

Position based in Beijing, China.

Strategic Market Research Manager, Asia Pacific Google is looking for
an experienced professional to support the company’s market research
and customer analytics efforts in Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s effort to seek in-depth user and
    customer understanding via appropriate research methodologies in order
    to help Google enhance its search experience and better serve our
    advertisers and resellers.
  • Manage research vendor relationship, give clear guidance on
    research goals, work with the vendors to approve the most suitable
    methodologies, and closely supervise the research process to ensure
    quality results.
  • Work with the Product, Product Marketing, Sales, Business
    Development teams both in China and Google US to translate user and
    customer insights into product requirements to better serve our users.
  • Work closely with the China executive team to articulate user insights in order to drive long term product roadmap.
  • Build appropriate methodologies to systematically and
    consistently measure Google’s brand awareness and perception among
    target audiences.
  • Track and report Google market share in greater China (Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan).

Requirements:

  • Top-tier-school BA/BS degree or above, MBA strongly preferred.
  • BA in market research, marketing, psychology, statistics, math or other related field.
  • Native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and fluent in English.
  • Fluency in Japanese and/or Korea is a strong plus.
  • 4+ years of B2C/B2B research experience with online products in Mainland China.
  • Excellent quantitative skills, significant experience with
    survey design, sampling, and data analysis. Experience using
    statistical tools such as SPSS or SAS a plus.
  • Experience with customer satisfaction measurement, customer
    segmentation analysis, advertising effectiveness research, and
    awareness and usage studies.
  • Experience planning, conducting, analyzing, and presenting data from both qualitative and quantitative primary research studies.
  • Familiarity with a variety of research methodologies.
  • Track record of successfully supporting sales initiatives through analysis and presentation of marketing data.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, using research to
    address business needs and making actionable recommendations based on
    research findings.
  • Must be extremely well organized, analytical and capable of handling multiple ad hoc requests for information simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze research data and translate raw information
    into actionable insights so that it can be easily understood and
    utilized by the entire organization.
  • Proven history of self-direction, creativity, extremely well
    organized and capable of handling multiple mission-critical projects
    simultaneously and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data from third-party
    audience research sources such as Nielsen/NetRatings, comScore Media
    Metrix, @Plan, etc.
  • Knowledge of online advertising, ROI analysis and branding measurement.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills a must.
  • Strong applications experience (including PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Must be able to take responsibility for completion of a
    project with multiple parts and work collegially with other staffers
    and research suppliers to ensure project meets deadlines and budgets.
